DISCOVER WHAT GATEWAY TO SCIENCE HAS TO OFFER!

Young Scientists Club Mondays beginning 9/20/2010 4pm-5pm. Join us for fun hands-on science activities like Marshmallow Bridges, Ocean in a Bottle, Roller Coasters, Pinhole Camera, & much more. Young Scientists Club is for students in Grades 4, 5 & 6. For more information on the Science Clubs you can contact Christie, our Program Coordinator.

Barnes and Noble Bookfair 9/18/2010 11am-3pm. Join us for fun, hands-on experiments in the children’s section at the Barnes and Noble Bismarck’s location. A percentage of your Barnes and Noble purchases will benefit Gateway to Science. For more information, you can contact Beth at 701-258-1975.

Visiting Scientist Series 9/24-9/25/2010. The Visiting Scientists Series (VSS) was established to inspire and educate young people and the public about science. VSS showcases scientists working in a variety of fields with the intent to reach a diverse audience and to inspire local students to consider careers in science. VSS presentations also provide resources for educators, educate members of technical organizations, and inform the community on science and technical issues. The first of this Series will be a presentation by Dr. Joseph Kerski, Education Manager for Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI). Dr. Kerski will present “Isn’t That Spatial? GIS for a Sustainable World”. This public presentation will be Friday, September 24, 2010 at 7 p.m. at BSC in the NECE Auditorium. “Get Outside with GPS” children’s workshop 9/25/2010 10am-11:30am. Gateway to Science will be hosting this event. This children’s workshop will demonstrate the science of, and opportunities abounding with GPS and provide hands-on experience with data collection, routes, waypoints, tracks, velocities, measuring the Earth’s circumference, and much more. Smithsonian Museum Day 9/25/2010. Museum Day is an annual event hosted by Smithsonian Media in which participating museums across the country open their doors for free to anyone presenting a Museum Day Ticket. For more information go to Museum Day 2010. Gateway to Science will be part of this event!

Chemistry Demo Night 10/19/2010 7pm-8pm. It’s like a magic show with the secrets revealed! Join us in celebrating National Chemistry Week. Exciting chemistry demonstrations will be performed live. For more information, you can contact Christie, our Program Coordinator.

Haunting Arts & Spooktacular Science 10/30/2010 1pm-4pm. Dare to join us for creepy, spooky, ghostly science at this annual Halloween Event! Call 701-258-1975 for more information or go to Haunting Arts & Spooktacular Science at High Prairie.
