Sound of Science Family Event 2010

“My family and I love Gateway to Science!  My children think all of the hands-on activities are fun and interesting.  The brain teasers, especially, are particularly engaging.  I love the fact that we learn something new every time we go.  We also enjoy the special activity days such as Rocket Day, Bubble Day and the Halloween activities.  Whenever we have been there, whether as a family or on a school field trip, the Gateway to Science staff has been welcoming, encouraging and helpful.  We’ve also utilized our membership at other science museums throughout the country and feel that our membership has been a great value.  Thanks for being such an awesome organization!”

Sincerely,
Jennifer B.

Family Fun in the Gallery

Posted by: | Comments (0)

We will all be celebrating Thanksgiving with friends and family on November 25, so the gallery will be closed this Thursday. However, you are in luck for this weekend! Join us on Friday or Saturday between noon and 5:00 (regular hours) for some family fun in the gallery. Show your extended family how much fun they can have in Bismarck by bringing them to Gateway to Science, North Dakota’s only hands-on science center!

Inside Gateway to Science

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Not a dull moment at Gateway to Science! Beth is busy as a bee finalizing details for Einstein on Wine, our 7th Annual fundraiser, getting ticket sales out the door and getting all the silent auction items lined up. If you haven’t gotten your tickets, You better hurry up! Few tickets will be sold at the door. Many great events will take place after Einstein on Wine. Preparations are already being made for ‘Da Genius Da Vinci’ and the 2011 Bowling Tournament! Beth is already putting long hours to make sure both upcoming events are a success.

Christie, our program coordinator is already getting registrations for our upcoming Environmental Festival on March 16th, 2011. This will be our 12th Annual Environmental Festival. Confirmed speakers are already lined up. Many hours and many deadlines are involved through this great Event! In between now and then, she is also getting ready for our first family event of the year Winter Wonderland, our annual Widget Contest, and Gateway to Science newest program Explore Engineering . These are just a few of the programs and events that are keeping Christie very busy!

Publication of the winter newsletter is on its way. I am having the opportunity to experience first hand the many events that Gateway to Science puts together. A learning experience, as well as very rewarding. Putting press releases together, media promotions of future events, updating our website , sending information to our members, and helping here and there with upcoming programs and events at Gateway to Science, and at the same attending all the fun festivities, what else could I possible asked for?

With visitors coming into our exhibit gallery on a daily basis, the Young Scientists Club in progress, and just wrapping up past events, in good company of our staff, board members, and the support of our members, we are glad to be here!

Getting together with family and friends during the upcoming holidays and visiting the Science Center is a must on your checklist! In the last couple of months we received visitors from Texas, Virginia, Colorado, and California. They all wrote great comments about the Exhibit Gallery on our guest book! So come on over! We’d love to see you!

Frances Leach High Prairie Arts & Science Complex was “buzzing” with kids on Saturday at the annual Haunting Arts & Spooktacular Science event. KFYR TV News featured a story on the evening news.

Goblins, Ghosts, and Ghouls! Oh MY!

On Saturday, October 30, 2010 The Frances Leach High Prairie Arts & Science Complex was the place to be at the 8th Annual “Haunting Arts & Spooktacular Science.”

Halloween-themed activities were offer by each of the partners at High Prairie, included:

Fun, spooky, and hands-on science experiments, Halloween Scavenger Hunt, Art projects like Monster Magnets and Ghostly drawings, Chilling Cookies and Witch brew, and a Halloween comedy for the whole family!

This was a great way for families to celebrate Halloween together! We had a record attendance for this wonderful event! Thank you to our volunteers and staff!
