Have you looked around the Gateway to Science ‘Camps & Programs’ pages lately? If you look at the home button on the top left of every page on our website, go two tabs to the right and you will find Camps & Programs! The tab itself has some general information, but more specific information can be found in the drop-down list found if you hover your mouse over the tab. The first drop-down is for Preschool Discovery Hour, our program designed for children ages 3 through Kindergarten and the adults in their lives. The second drop-down is for potential program instructors, whether they are formal educators or not, who would like information about working with us to provide science programs to children in our community. The next drop-down is about the science clubs we offer, which are currently available for 1st-6th graders. The last drop-down has information about scholarships to participate in Gateway to Science programs, including the application form and guidelines for applying. We also add information about summer camps under this tab when it is time for students to register and attend.

As you can see, there is a lot of information in this area of our website! So check it out, and as always, contact us if you have any questions.

Widget Contest Announced!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

The task for the 2012 Widget Contest, taking place February 7 and sponsored by Gateway to Science and the North Dakota Society of Professional Engineers, Chapter 3, has just been announced! This year’s task is to knock over a pyramid of three cups. The three cups must be in a standard pyramid formation to start, and all three cups must be knocked off their rims by an impact, not just moved or pulled apart. Teams can register and pick up their box of materials, including more specific guidelines for the contest, between January 5 and January 25.

Science Quote of the Day

Posted by: | Comments (0)

“There are many hypotheses in science which are wrong. That’s perfectly all right; they’re the aperture to finding out what’s right. Science is a self-correcting process. To be accepted, new ideas must survive the most rigorous standards of evidence and scrutiny.”
Carl Sagan
