Basic Electricity
Recommended for Grades 4-9+
Electricity is a form of energy. Electric current follows a wire circuit, usually made of copper or aluminum wires. Electric current is easily turned on or off by switches. When a switch is open (off), it leaves a gap in the circuit and electricity cannot flow past. This trunk has students build a variety of circuits to demonstrate circuits in series and parallel, magnetic switches, resistors, diodes, and capacitors. Students will also determine the conductivity of several common objects.
