DESCRIPTION:What is PDH?\nPreschool Discovery Hour is a FREE program\, held the second Wednesday and Saturday of each month\, where children and their favorite adults can participate in hands-on activities and explore concepts together. Early childhood educators will be present to engage little learners and their guardians in understanding the concepts together. \nWho can attend?\nOur littlest learners and their favorite adults can attend Preschool Discovery Hour. Older siblings are welcome to explore and participate as helpers! \nThis Months Program\nThis month\, develop skills with your little learners! Join us\, along with Red Door Pediatrics on July 10 & 13 from 9:00 am to 9:45 am as we learn about our bodies and how to develop our skills with a wide range of activities! \nFollowing Preschool Discovery Hour\, stick around for our Your Support Matters – Breastfeeding Support Group\, in partnership with Western Plains Public Health and Bismarck-Burlegih Public Health\, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. \nAfter the Program\nOnce the PDH program concludes\, families are encouraged to explore the interactive exhibits gallery. Feel free to bring your friends for an even more welcoming experience!\n\nThe group will be joined by Cassie Geithman BSN\, RN\, IBCLC\, CPST\, Community Health Nurse\, Bismarck-Burleigh Public Health who has worked in obstetrics and lactation for more than 30 years\, providing lactation support in the hospital and community settings. Cassie is passionate about promoting breastfeeding as a cornerstone of maternal and infant health and is committed to supporting mothers and families on their breastfeeding journey.

You’ll even learn how to be prepared for severe weather and interpret Watches and Warnings!\n\nPresenter Info\nJohn Paul (JP) Martin is the Warning Coordination Meteorologist (WCM) with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) in Bismarck\, North Dakota. JP is responsible for managing decision support services to government agencies\, managing all outreach educational training to the public and other special interest groups\, and quality assuring NWS products and services. He works directly with emergency management agencies on promoting severe weather education and providing on-site decision support services to local\, county\, state\, tribal\, and federal officials during times of severe weather and disaster. This is done partly through the StormReady and Weather-Ready Nation initiatives.

DESCRIPTION:We are hosting our first adult (18+) programming event on January 27th from 6:00-8:30 PM! Damon Williams will be presenting all things astronomy and will then take us outside on our scenic deck to observe the stars! While the telescopes are open for viewing\, the gallery will be open for adult-centered exploration time. Tickets for the event will be $25 and will only be available for the first 50 people who register! (minimum registration to hold the event is 20) Hot cocoa will be provided by 3&Me to keep us warm outside!

DESCRIPTION:The mission of our STEM Adventure Club is to spark an interest in future scientific curiosity for children in grades 1 – 5 and to fascinate them with the wonders of scientific discovery. North Dakota’s Gateway to Science believes that children should to be exposed to the exciting fields of science at an early age with fun and engaging hands-on experiments\, activities\, and games that are accompanied by age-appropriate information on specific science topics. Our goal is to engage children in an educational science adventure that lasts a lifetime! \nSTEM Adventure Club for grades 1 – 5 meets on Mondays from 4:00 pm to 5:15 pm at North Dakota’s Gateway to Science\, 1600 Canary Avenue. \nRegistration for each 6-week session is $75 for Gateway to Science members; $90 for non-members.
