Creativity Takes Center Stage in Science First

""
Ivy’s Space Duck!

Science First is always buzzing with energy. From the moment families step inside, they’re greeted with opportunities to explore, experiment, and let their imaginations run wild. Designed for our youngest learners—but undeniably fun for all ages—it’s a place where curiosity leads the way and hands-on play brings ideas to life. One area that draws families back again and again is the Building Zone, home to colorful foam blocks and endless possibilities. Our guests know unstructured free play opens up boundless possibilities!

Where Big Ideas Take Shape

It’s a Kitchen Sink!

Give a child a pile of blocks, and you never know what will appear. Over the past few months, we’ve watched visitors construct remarkably detailed houses, whimsical castles, kid-sized forts, and even structures complete with doorbells, “security cameras,” and front-yard flowers. Some builders have gone all-in with interior design, adding furniture and even a “kitchen sink.”

Other creations have been just as impressive: a royal throne, a working pendulum clock, cars that could actually move, a tractor, and a helicopter. Smaller builds have included everything from a space duck to a blocky robot, along with countless trains and trucks. Every visit brings something new (and often something delightfully unexpected).

Celebrating Young Engineers

""
Robbie the Robot!

One of the best parts of working in Science First is hearing the stories behind each creation. Builders love sharing how their ideas came together, and we love cheering them on, too! To honor that creativity, we now feature Science First Creations on the wall inside the space.

Whether it’s a towering castle or a tiny robot, being featured on the wall is a moment of pride. It highlights the hard work, imagination, and problem-solving that go into every build.

Building Inspector Approved

To keep the experience fun and safe for everyone, each creation must follow the Building Inspector’s Rules—think stability and height. These simple guidelines encourage safety, teamwork, and good stewardship of the building materials. These creations have the chance to be highlighted in our growing gallery of Science First masterpieces and are a fun way to spread inspiration!
