Families Got Spooky with Science at STEM Spooktacular 2025

""Halloween got a hands-on twist again this year at North Dakota’s Gateway to Science! Families filled the science center for our annual STEM Spooktacular, exploring a mix of not-so-spooky science, creativity, and Halloween excitement.

Costumes, experiments, and laughter filled every corner.

A huge thank you to CyberNet Security, a BEK Communications company, and volunteers for helping make this not-so-spooky event possible. Their support helped bring science to life for families across our community!

Bubbling, Glowing, and Creepy-Crawly Science

From glowing potions to flying ghosts, every activity station offered a fun way to explore real science.

  • Kids mixed bubbling lab experiments that fizzed, glowed, and changed color, revealing the “magic” of chemical reactions.
  • Families raced robotic spiders across the floor, testing force, motion, and speed.
  • Guests even joined a spooky stretch session with Soul Haven Yoga, learning how movement helps our bodies feel strong and healthy.

Each spooky experiment brought out smiles, giggles, and plenty of “wow!” moments—because science can be just as thrilling as any Halloween adventure.

A Family-Friendly Candy Alternative

Throughout the evening, families explored together, made discoveries, and shared in the excitement of hands-on learning. Kids enjoyed bubbling potions, racing robotic spiders, and experimenting with flying ghosts—all while celebrating Halloween in a hands-on, interactive way.

Spooktacular offered a playful twist on Halloween fun, giving families a chance to enjoy spooky-themed science, creativity, and discovery side by side with costumes, laughter, and seasonal excitement.
