North Dakota’s Gateway to Science Launches Fifth Year of GSK Science in the Summer

Bismarck, ND — May 29, 2025 — North Dakota’s Gateway to Science is proud to announce its continued participation in the GSK Science in the Summer™ program, marking the fifth consecutive year of bringing this dynamic STEM experience to students across North Dakota. Developed by The Franklin Institute and supported by GSK, this year’s theme, Be a Health Scientist!, empowers children to explore the many exciting careers and real-world challenges in health science.

Beginning June 4 and running throughout the summer, Gateway to Science will deliver this hands-on science education program directly to schools and communities statewide. Children entering grades 2 through 6 will engage in activities that simulate the work of real health scientists, such as biomedical engineers, dietitians, and cardiologists. Through problem-solving, experimentation, and collaboration, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how science plays a vital role in improving human health.

“We are honored to continue this partnership and bring such an impactful STEM learning opportunity to communities across North Dakota,” said Hope Burdolski, Outreach & Offsite Education Director at North Dakota’s Gateway to Science. “Each year, we see the excitement and curiosity this program sparks in young learners. It’s a powerful way to encourage exploration and inspire future scientists.”

GSK Science in the Summer™ is a free science education initiative designed to increase interest and confidence in STEM among elementary students, particularly those from backgrounds underrepresented in science. The program’s hands-on, inquiry-based approach helps young learners build foundational science skills in an engaging and accessible way.
