From Planetariums to Pop-Up Science Fairs: STEM Learning Goes to Students
Bismarck, ND – 8/13/2025 — North Dakota’s Gateway to Science is now booking fall and spring dates for its Gateway to Science on the Go programs, which include STEMZones and hands-on workshops for schools, organizations, and community groups across the state. These traveling programs bring interactive STEM learning directly to participants—no buses required.
“Our programs make STEM both fun and standards-aligned, while removing common barriers to access,” said Alisha Kelim, Education Director. “By bringing these experiences directly to schools and communities, we ensure every student has the chance to explore, discover, and be inspired—no matter where they live in North Dakota.”
STEMZones
STEMZones transform a gym, cafeteria, or large gathering space into an interactive science fair with multiple stations for students to explore, build, test, and discover. Programs are available for all grade levels, and dates are available this fall and spring to bring STEMZones directly to your location.
Workshops
Workshops are available for Pre-K through grade 12 and provide focused, hands-on learning in science, technology, engineering, and math. Current offerings are listed on the Gateway to Science website, and custom workshops can be developed to meet specific needs.
Digitalis Dome
Gateway to Science’s new portable planetarium can be added to a STEMZone experience or booked on its own. The dome offers immersive programs including aeronautics and space science, giving learners of all ages the opportunity to explore the night sky and beyond.
Community Events
Gateway to Science participates in community events year-round, sharing interactive STEM activities with people of all ages. Event organizers are encouraged to reach out to discuss possible participation.
