This month, we’re thrilled to recognize Jan Beck, one of the incredible volunteers who brings science to life every day at North Dakota’s Gateway to Science.
Jan has been part of our volunteer team since the summer of 2023. Every Wednesday morning, you can find her at the Anatomage Table, engaging guests in lessons about the human body. Her thoughtful guidance enables visitors to learn from and about Victor, the donor whose scans are on the table, in a respectful and meaningful way. From curious families to school groups, camps, and clubs, guests walk away with new knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the complexity of the human body.
We’re so grateful to have Jan help facilitate the Anatomage Table, which shows animal anatomy during other gallery hours.
In addition to her weekly shifts, Jan has also shared her time and energy at community events hosted by Gateway to Science. Her passion for both learning and teaching shines through every interaction, making her an invaluable part of our mission to inspire discovery through science.
Favorite Exhibit
“I thoroughly enjoy working with the Anatomage Table. I’ve found anatomy and learning about the human body fascinating ever since I watched the video Hemo the Magnificent as a student in school!”
Why She Volunteers
“I like the idea that the few minutes a young person spends with Victor might spark an interest that will follow them the rest of their lives.”
