Earlier this week, North Dakota’s Gateway to Science hosted a fully booked evening of wine, flavor exploration, and hands-on science with Science Uncorked: A Geeky Guide to Wine & Food Pairing—an event designed exclusively for adults who enjoy learning with a side of charcuterie.
A Perfect Pairing: STEM + Wine
Presented in collaboration with The Jousting Lemur, Bismarck’s self-serve wine bar, this unique adults-only event gave guests the opportunity to explore how wine interacts with different flavors—and why it matters.
Through a curated tasting experience, participants learned how food chemistry, atmosphere, and personal taste perception influence wine pairings. It was an evening full of discovery, laughter, and delicious combinations.
Science After Hours
As part of our growing slate of adult-focused programming, Science Uncorked welcomed a lively group of wine lovers, science enthusiasts, and lifelong learners for a night that was anything but ordinary. With only 35 seats available, the event sold out quickly—proving that adults are more than ready for engaging, hands-on science opportunities of their own.
Science Uncorked is one of several special experiences designed to bring the wonder of STEM into adult life. Whether you’re curious about the chemistry of cocktails, fascinated by local myths and scientific truths, or just looking for a new kind of night out—there’s something for you here. We’re excited to keep building our adult series with more creative, community-centered events that make science accessible and fun for all ages.
