Meaningful Math: Museum and Community Partnerships

Meaningful Math: Museum and Community Partnerships brings together museums, math experts, and community-based organizations in four unique locations across the country to co-create local math programming that highlights the beauty of math, fosters curiosity, and elevates mathematical thinking. The Franklin Institute was awarded a two-year grant through the Simons Foundation and has engineered the program to support the work of the institutions in the co-creation process.

Local Collaboration in North Dakota

Through this partnership, North Dakota’s Gateway to Science has created a program with the Morton Mandan Public Library, the Bismarck Veteran’s Memorial Public Library, and the North Dakota State Library to engage learners in hands-on and engaging activities, exploring the beauty of math. Dream Center, Bismarck and the Sacred Pipe Resource Center have also joined as community-based partners for this project.

Infinite Possibilities

Together with these partners, NDGTS has created Infinite Possibilities. It is a hands-on family event where curiosity comes alive through play, patterns, and exploration. With interactive stations designed to spark wonder and find beauty, families will experience how math shapes nature and connects to everything around us. This collection of stations can be used by NDGTS and our community partners during regular programming or for events.
