As a STEM Educator, Jill brings more than 20 years of experience in North Dakota public education to her work at North Dakota’s Gateway to Science. Her passion is inspiring students and adults to explore, create, and solve problems through hands-on learning and discovery.
Impacting the Mission
Jill impacts the mission by bringing STEMzones to schools across North Dakota, developing and presenting workshops, and expanding STEM learning opportunities throughout the state at community events. She also helps lead the way for our Gateway After Dark program and is involved with STEM Adventure Club.
One of her primary goals is to continue to work side by side with her fellow STEM Educators to bring experiences to each school throughout the state of ND. Her educational philosophy is summed up in a motto that has stayed with her throughout her career “All students must F.A.I.L.—First Attempt In Learning.” For Jill, failure is not the opposite of learning; it is an important part of the learning process.

Favorite Exhibit, Event, or Experiment
Jill’s favorite exhibit at North Dakota’s Gateway to Science is the KFYR Weather Center. As a classroom teacher, she enjoyed watching her students explore the exhibit and connect science to the world around them. She loves that, like weather, learning is always changing and full of new possibilities.
