Employment Type: Full-time (40 hrs/week)
Salary: Starting at $50,000, DOE

ARE YOU OUR NEXT STEM EDUCATOR?

We’re looking for a STEM Educator to help us deliver fun and engaging STEM learning experiences across North Dakota. Whether it’s leading a workshop at the science center, developing hands-on curriculum, or facilitating a carnival-style learning day at a host school, you’ll make a lasting impact by inspiring curiosity and building connections through science. If you’re an educator who’s excited about making learning fun and accessible—and don’t mind getting a little messy in the name of science—keep reading!

RESPONSIBILITIES

School Partnerships & Outreach Coordination – approximately 40% of time

You’ll help keep our statewide outreach programs running smoothly by serving as a key point of contact for schools and community partners. You’ll coordinate program requests, manage contracts and agreements, maintain school relationships, and handle scheduling, communication, and follow-up. You’ll help schools navigate our programming options, identify opportunities to bring STEM experiences to more students, and make sure the details are in place for successful visits. From the first inquiry to the final follow-up, you’ll help create a positive, organized experience for our partners.

Program Development & Prep – approximately 30% of time

You’ll work with our education team to develop, adapt, and improve engaging STEM activities and curriculum for learners of all ages. This includes researching and testing new ideas, preparing educational resources, and helping ensure programs align with learning objectives and grant-funded initiatives. You’ll also support program documentation by tracking participation and outcomes. You’ll play an important role in connecting the work we’re doing with the goals and commitments that make it possible.

STEM Education & Outreach– approximately 30% of time

You’ll lead engaging, age-appropriate programming for students of all ages, with a primary focus on preK-12 (except, hello, Adult Programming!). You’ll present hands-on workshops onsite at the science center and offsite across the state through our North Dakota’s Gateway to Science on the Go program. Programs include afterschool clubs, summer camps, field trips, and classroom workshops.

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO

  • Has a bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
  • Has 2+ years of teaching experience, which can include substitute teaching, camps, or similar learning environments.
  • Has demonstrated effective group and classroom management skills.
  • Has strong attention to detail and can handle multiple demands efficiently.
  • Is eager to learn, experiment, and grow as part of a team.
  • Is dependable, organized, and adaptable in a dynamic work setting.
  • Has excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

OUR TEAM & VALUES

We love what we do—and we passionately pursue the mission with strategy, purpose, and a deep commitment to living our core values to support the team, visitors, and community. We bring joy to science by approaching our work with curiosity, collaboration, and a spirit of deliberate experimentation. We’re committed to building spaces where everyone feels a sense of belonging—from our team to the people we serve.

Our team works together in a fast-paced, supportive environment built on well-laid systems. Specialties aren’t siloed here—they’re collaborative, cross-functional, and strategically aligned to ensure we deliver the best possible experiences for our learners and our team.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS

This is a full-time position, with a starting salary of $50,000 DOE. The role reports to the Education Director and includes regular travel—approximately 25% of the time—to deliver programming across the state. Evening and weekend hours are occasionally required based on the programming schedule, which is shared by all Educators. A valid driver’s license is required, and the position involves lifting up to 30 pounds and assisting with setup and teardown of materials at a variety of locations. While the start date is flexible, we’re hoping to welcome our new team member as soon as possible after hiring.
