Building a New Science Center

A New Beginning

Significant growth in the state of North Dakota and an emphasis on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in formal education and the workforce are causing an increased demand for the services provided by Gateway to Science. To meet these community needs, Gateway to Science will build a stand-alone facility with state-of-the-art exhibits and expanded educational outreach programming for students, teachers and the general public.

The new Gateway to Science center will overlook the Missouri River to the west and be visible from I-94.

Having a state-of-the-art science center of this caliber in Bismarck and in North Dakota will be a huge asset and will add so much to our quality of life here. The “hands-on” approach to learning has been proven to increase creativity, logic development, and reading readiness, and is the hallmark of an exemplary science center.

There are opportunities for recognition in various areas of the new science center. Please refer to our current list of Naming Opportunities for more information.

Endowment

The Gateway to Science endowment (a permanent fund from which only the income is spent) will be used to supplement operations until our potential for earned income is realized. Earned income opportunities include current activities such as admissions, membership and program registration, and will be expanded to include income from the theater and space rental within the new facility.
