As the Visitor Services Assistant Manager and Events Coordinator, Janie’s role is to help create a welcoming and memorable experience for every guest. Her split role allows her to support the gallery and other private events that bring the community together at the science center.

Janie helps NDGTS fulfill its mission by ensuring guests feel connected, informed, and inspired during their visit. She prioritizes exceptional guest service and smooth event coordination, creating experiences that foster community connection. Janie strives to strengthen relationships with guests, supports the gallery team, and helps make NDGTS a place where learning and celebration go hand in hand.

Experience and Expertise  

Janie brings five years of experience in education as a 3rd-grade teaching assistant, where she developed strong communication and organizational skills. Her background in education, combined with hands-on experience in catering, makes her dual role a perfect fit. She understands the importance of creating environments that are both welcoming and well-coordinated, whether in the gallery or at an event. 

Outside of NDGTS  

Outside of work, Janie enjoys spending time with her husband and their three cats—who now have their own “Catio,” built this past summer. She also helps with family catering events, where she admits she’s not the best cook but loves making the food presentation look beautiful. 

Favorite Exhibit, Event, or Experiment 

Janie’s favorite exhibits are Pumpjack and Gas Capture. She loves watching guests of all ages team up to achieve a common goal. Whether you’re 5 or 55, it’s a fun and interactive way to learn about teamwork and problem-solving. 

Her favorite part of each event is seeing how guests transform our spaces into their own unique setting. Assisting them throughout the process makes every event a fun new challenge and an opportunity to help create beautiful memories.
