We’ve got a buzz in the air—literally!
Last week, the North Dakota Department of Agriculture delivered a bee colony to North Dakota’s Gateway to Science. The bees are now settled in their hives, located behind our sign on the hill.
While this isn’t a formal exhibit, it’s part of our ongoing commitment to supporting STEM learning and sustainability in real, visible ways. Bees play a crucial role in agriculture and ecosystems, and having a colony onsite gives us a great opportunity to talk about pollinators and the science of beekeeping in future programs.
A professional beekeeper will be visiting about every two weeks to inspect the boxes and make sure the bees are healthy in their colonies.
If you’re visiting and curious, look toward the hillside to spot the bee boxes—but please keep your distance so the bees can go about their work undisturbed.
