Summer Camps for 2011 are closed. See you in 2012!
Want your child to do something unique and absolutely cool this summer? Summer Science Camps at Gateway to Science are for kids in grades 1 thru 6. Our campers enjoy a full week of themed activities.
Registration is necessary and space is limited for all science camps. Partial scholarship for the camps are available. However, applications must have been received by May 16, 2011, to qualify for scholarship.
Activities are designed by camp instructors and full-time Science Center professionals to be age-appropriate, stimulating, and exciting.
Gateway to Science members enjoy discounted fees. A non-member price includes a student membership through August 2011. After registering for one camp as a non-member, you may select additional camps at the member rate.

2011 Summer Camp Descriptions
Engineer That! – How would you like to design and build things like roller coasters, gliders, cars, clocks, and trebuchets! Polish your hidden engineering skills with a variety of creative hands-on building projects. This day-long camp also includes outdoor playtime to keep your body moving and your brain sharp! (Note: Engineer That! meets at the BPS Career Academy, 1221 College Drive – just east of the BSC campus.)
Science Unplugged – Hey curious kids! Find out the answers to some of your burning questions while exploring science in a whole new way. This camp is full of a variety of different hands-on science activities, while also making time to delve into the topics of particular interest to the participants. Come with questions!
Lego® Camp – Learn about structures by building towers, bridges, cars, catapults and more!
Lego® Design Camp – Want to take Lego® fun to a new level? Learn how to plan that awesome creation you’ve been dreaming of, and then build it using Legos®! This camp focuses on using engineering skills to enhance the Lego experience. Prerequisite: Lego® Camp.
Space Camp – Be “transported” into low Earth orbit! Learn lots of cool things about astronomy, force, and motion. Campers will build their own rocket from common items, personalizing it along the way. The final day of the camp is the big launch, when each camper gets to see how high their rocket can fly!
The Science of Art – Ever wonder what paint is made of and how it works? Or how paper is made? Learn the science behind various types of art by participating in fun, hands-on activities. Then create art projects with the materials you’ve made!
Brainteasers & Games – Do you enjoy putting puzzles together, or impressing your friends with new strategies in games? Then this camp is for you! Use math, like funny shapes and number tricks, to solve tricky brainteasers and puzzles. You’ll also get to learn strategies behind games, and even invent and play some of your own!
