Something really special happened on Tuesday, September 16th. Thanks to AARP, for one day, Gateway to Science turned the gallery over to adults aged 50 and older. The atmosphere was relaxed, the space was theirs to explore, and the energy was full of curiosity, joy, and laughter.
From test flights in the flight simulator to in-depth tours with staff, older adults embraced the chance to try something new. One team member reflected, “It was so much fun—our guests were very curious, followed instructions well, and did a great job flying!”
Exploring the Gallery at Their Own Pace
Some visitors shared that they felt more at ease experiencing the space when it wasn’t crowded, which gave them confidence to return with family and grandchildren in the future. Others expressed amazement at the size and scope of the science center, with one group already planning their next visit.

A Digital Literacy Workshop
Another highlight of the day was a Digital Literacy workshop for our guests from Touchmark. They loved diving into the topic, asked amazing questions, and were so engaged that by the end, they invited us to teach others the same topic at Touchmark. It was the kind of session that left everyone smiling—proof that learning new skills can be fun and energizing at any age.
Curiosity Doesn’t Stop
