Generous donors power the mission of North Dakota’s Gateway to Science to inspire the discovery of science through hands-on experiences. In fact, more than two-thirds of our annual operating budget comes from philanthropic support.
Accessibility and Affordability for All
One of the core values of North Dakota’s Gateway to Science is accessibility and affordability for all. We believe STEM skills like critical thinking and creative problem-solving empower people of all ages, backgrounds, and perspectives.
Here are some examples of the work we are doing together to ensure accessibility and affordability for all:
- North Dakota’s Gateway to Science offers discounted admission for at-risk youth and adults through our Agency Admission program and for families receiving food assistance through Museums for All, a national initiative that encourages individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong museum habits.
- The David & DeLaine Poppke Scholarship Fund provides partial scholarships for students to attend Gateway to Science clubs and camps.
- Our staff educators deliver workshops (in-person and virtual) and events for schools and communities across the state through the Gateway to Science on the Go outreach program. This program helps us meet students where they are with high-quality, engaging STEM learning experiences.
