Families looking for engaging ways to keep learning going beyond the school day can find plenty of opportunities at North Dakota’s Gateway to Science. Our STEM camps and clubs give students opportunities to explore new ideas, build skills, and discover what interests them through hands-on experiences.
Mini Camps
When school is out, the fun doesn’t have to stop! Mini Camps give students a full day of hands-on STEM activities on select days when there is no school.
Each camp offers new opportunities to experiment, create, and explore different STEM topics. It’s a great way for students to stay engaged and make the most of their day off.
Explore the World of Coding
NDGTS Coding Clubs give students in grades 3–8 the opportunity to explore computer science in a supportive and collaborative environment. Best of all, participation is free, although registration is required and spots are limited.
Throughout the club, students learn foundational computer science concepts, develop problem-solving and project-management skills, and use robotics to take on engaging challenges. They’ll also explore coding-related careers and connect with other students.
Elementary Coding Club
Students in grades 3–5 will build their coding skills through beginner-friendly block coding activities, robotics, and hands-on challenges. The club meets at Gateway to Science on Thursdays from 4:00–5:15 p.m. Fall and spring sessions are available.
Middle School Coding Club
Older students will take their skills further by exploring Python and block-based coding while tackling increasingly complex robotics challenges. The club meets on Mondays from 3:45–5:00 p.m. at the Bismarck Veterans Memorial Library.
Discover STEM After School
For younger scientists, STEM Adventure Club offers students in grades 1–5 a chance to explore the wonders of science throughout the school year. As part of our STEM camps and clubs, each week brings new opportunities to experiment, build, create, and solve problems.
Students might extract DNA, investigate chromatography, design rockets, build hydraulic arms, program robots, or engineer parachutes. Their creations and experiments may even be showcased in the Gateway to Science gallery.
STEM Adventure Club meets Mondays from 4:00–5:15 p.m. at the science center.
Keep Exploring
From Mini Camps on days off to Coding Club and STEM Adventure Club throughout the school year, there are plenty of ways to keep curiosity going.
